Les deux enfants font rapidement connaissance avec leur voisin Hajime qui a le même âge que Satsuki et qui est dans la même classe qu'elle à l'école. Leur intégration ne semble pas poser de difficulté. Cependant, dès le premier jour de classe, ils se rendent compte que l'école (qui fut aussi celle de leur mère) est hantée. En effet, cette école possède un vieux bâtiment qui est rarement utilisé, et lorsqu'ils cherchèrent leur chat dans ce mystérieux bâtiment, ils découvrirent ce qui s'y cachait. Déjà à l'époque, leur mère savait que son école était hantée, et avait écrit un journal sur les monstre et autres fantômes de l'école.
